Herewith some random photos of bookshelves in my house. Why? Why not. These are just a few. There are many, many more. And people wonder why I’m lukewarm about eBooks.
More after the break.
Have you read a good amount of those?
I’ve read just about all of them. I have about 3 shelves of to-be-read books, otherwise they’re all read. Of course, having a head porous like a sponge, I’ve forgotten most of what I’ve read. It’s very sad.
I bought some of those paperbacks in the early 1980s. I am sometimes amazed that I still have them.
I’ve got the same situation-about a third of my collection is to-be-read.
The ratio of read-to-unread books has been tipping since our local library started selling donated books at $2-3 a pop, and the selection is surprisingly good. I’ve found a few gems-books signed by Clive Barker and Lawrence Block, and I even lucked across a 1st edition Naked and the Dead (I’ve got a feeling that last one was a “cleaning out the dead uncle’s garage” discount).
All that to say that my “unread” shelves are taking over.
You’ll be happy to know that nobody’s donated any J. Somers material, however. It looks like the Cates novels are keepers.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for someone with a signed Cates trilogy to fall victim to something and have his collection donated.
picture 8: ghosts?
I prefer to think that this is ONE picture of ONE MASSIVE set of book shelves approximately 20 feet tall. I also prefer to think that I will be the one you call when the shelves collapse down upon you, trapping you, forcing you to drink your own saliva for sustenance and tap out game show tunes with a penny on the hardwood floor for entertainment (though, I suppose the massive number of books resting on your chest would be another way to entertain yourself, but I ignore that in the name of humor).
Sean, your desire for me to be crippled ironically by my own passion and vocation, like some sort of uninteresting Twilight Zone plot, is duly noted. For everyone else, if I show up on the news as the author crushed by a wall of his own books under mysterious circumstances, you know who is behind the plot and I trust you to bring vigilante justice to bear. Avenge me!
what you reed for?
I’ve read most of my books, my problem is remembering to watch the dvds I have.
But you have a lot of books, so I can’t blame you.
One thing that comes to mind though, what if your house catches on fire?
